Wonder what it's like to live in a trash dump?

Meet Bryan. He's 7 years old and lives in the Managua City trash dump with his mother Luisa and 5 brothers and sisters. He often goes to help his mom work collecting plastic bottles and other recyclable items in the dump and has never been able to stay in school for more than a couple weeks. Now, Bryan comes to Nica HOPE everyday, where he is learning his letters and numbers in a safe and healthy environment. We have helped him enroll in 1st grade for this year, but he needs the after-school tutoring and continual follow-up from the Nica HOPE team to keep him in school and out of the trash. Only $30 a month (that's $1 a day - less than a coffee) to help Bryan or a child like him. You really can make a difference. Nica HOPE can only help as many kids as supporters like you allow.

Meet Darling. She is 16 years old and has never made it past the second grade. She has been working with her mom near their home in the trash dump since she was old enough to walk. Now, Darling no longer needs to work in the dump because she earns money through the Nica HOPE jewelry program. At Nica HOPE she also receives daily tutoring classes, to get her ready for re-starting school this year. She still need shoes, a school uniform, school supplies, continual after-school tutoring, and individual follow-up to make it successfully through the school year. Will you help provide these resources for her?

We can't do this work alone.

NicaHOPE.org makeover!

Nica HOPE has just launched it's new website at www.nicahope.org! We invite you to come check it out and learn about the latest that has been going on with Nica HOPE and the community of La Chureca in Nicaragua. Many thanks to Eric Smith for the site design and Michael Trozzo for the new logo - you can read more about their contributions and the symbolism behind the new logo on our news page.

Come meet some of the kids that need sponsors like you, many of whom have dropped out of school and are currently working in the trash, on our child sponsorship page. We need 150 sponsors by January for the new school year, to get these children in school! We are also now able to offer monthly child sponsorship contributions and all online donations completely free of any transaction or credit card fees, thanks to Razoo. com.

Many thanks for your continued support!

Announcing Nica HOPE Child Sponsorship

Nica HOPE is announcing the opportunity for you to get more directly involved in the lives and education of our students here in Nicaragua! More than 200 students from the community of the Managua City Trash Dump are receiving quality computer training and education from the Nica HOPE Computer Training Center. As a Nica HOPE Child Sponsor, you can connect directly with these students, through supporting their individual education and allowing them to utilize their newly acquired email and computer skills to communicate with you!
For little more than $15 a month ($100 for a semester or $200 for a year), a child can be given valuable skills and motivation necessary to achieve both a career and a future apart from the trash. Your financial contribution will cover all costs necessary to provide this education, costs which include teacher salaries, student manuals, software programs, electricity, school security, and additional classroom materials.

For more information on sponsoring a child of La Chureca, please email us at sponsorship@nicahope.org. Upon doing so, you will be given additional assistance with getting started as well as information about your child. As always, all donations will be tax deductible.

Thanks for your support!
